Mr. Eric Drewery
About
Eric A. Drewery serves as an Assistant Principal at Glen Burnie High School in Anne Arundel County Public Schools, where he provides instructional and operational leadership in a comprehensive secondary setting serving more than 2,200 students and 221 staff members. His leadership is grounded in Transformational Leadership and collective efficacy, with an emphasis on aligning instruction, culture, and organizational systems to produce equitable and sustainable outcomes for students and educators.
With over a decade of experience across middle and high school contexts, Drewery has led initiatives focused on ninth-grade transition and promotion, MTSS implementation, restorative practices, and graduation pathway development. His work has contributed to measurable improvements in student outcomes, including reductions in ninth-grade course failures and increased graduation rates through proactive intervention systems, instructional coherence, and adult capacity-building. Central to his practice is the belief that equity must be operationalized through daily instructional decisions, data-informed systems, and shared accountability.
As an instructional leader, Drewery prioritizes adult learning as a critical lever for school improvement. Drawing on Transformational Leadership, he emphasizes shared vision, professional responsibility, and leadership development among educators. He facilitates professional learning centered on equitable grading practices, instructional rigor, restorative approaches, and the strategic use of data to inform teaching and intervention, intentionally cultivating collective efficacy across teams.
Drewery’s prior roles as a Dean of Students, Mathematics Department Chair, and Instructional Lead Teacher have strengthened his expertise in curriculum alignment, instructional coaching, and systems-level problem-solving. He is currently completing doctoral studies in Educational Policy and Leadership, with research interests in instructional leadership, school improvement, and student achievement in underperforming secondary schools.
