Carrie Akins is the Principal of the Calvert Career & Technology Academy and District Director of Career & Technical Education for Calvert County Public Schools in Maryland. A nationally recognized education leader and doctoral candidate in Workforce and Organizational Development at Old Dominion University, she has more than two decades of experience spanning multiple levels of secondary education, including serving as a high school English teacher, high school assistant principal, middle school principal, and district leader.
Carrie is passionate about creating schools where every student discovers purpose, sees a path forward, and has access to the relationships and opportunities needed to succeed. Her work focuses on expanding high-quality career pathways, strengthening connections among education, industry, and workforce development, and preparing students for high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand careers. She believes strong school leadership can transform lives, increase economic mobility, and ensure that every student graduates prepared to build a life of choice and opportunity.
