Tashia Tillett is a dedicated educator and school leader with deep expertise in advancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education within middle school environments. She currently serves as Magnet Coordinator at Parkland Magnet Middle School for Aerospace Technology in Montgomery County, where she plays a central role in shaping one of the region’s most innovative STEM-focused programs.
In her work at Parkland, Tashia oversees the school’s magnet program structure, which integrates rigorous science and technology coursework with real-world applications, including partnerships with aerospace and engineering organizations. The curriculum emphasizes advanced science courses, engineering design challenges, robotics, coding, and project-based learning, allowing students to engage with contemporary STEM fields from early adolescence through capstone projects.
Under her coordination, students have access to a learning environment that fosters analytical thinking, innovation, and problem-solving hallmarks of strong STEM education. Classes span topics such as Principles of Flight, Applied Robotic Engineering, Computer Science Discoveries, and Introduction to Engineering Design (with opportunities to earn high school credit). This approach supports student readiness for science and technology careers and instills the confidence to engage with complex challenges.
Tashia’s leadership also extends to facilitating authentic collaborations with partners in industry, higher education, and community science initiatives, which enhances hands-on learning and connects students with professionals in engineering, aerospace, and technology fields.
Her work reflects a steadfast commitment to expanding access to STEM opportunities for all learners, ensuring students are prepared not only for rigorous academic pathways but also for future careers where STEM skills are increasingly essential.
